My Easter 2014 Getaway

Standard

On the 12th April, my best friend Shaffiq and I will tour to 3 European countries – Amsterdam, Milan, Venice and Switzerland. We have planned the journey ahead to get the cheapest accommodations and transport. Shaffiq lives in Leeds while myself, in Cardiff. To be fair, we decide to start off our journey from London. Furthermore, Shaffiq wishes to have the famous ‘Burger & Lobster’. He was intrigued with my previous article that I had written earlier on the 10th of April about this restaurant. He would like to have the char-grilled lobster at Knightsbridge. Oh my! I am thrifty about spending on expensive food. Not again! Never mind! I will accompany him and let him have it. I hope he will not mind if I  just have a sip of his drinks.

We will have a five-hour journey via Eurostar to Amsterdam and will spend two nights at Qbic Amsterdam WTC. We plan to see the various colours of tulips, eat out the different types of cheese and oh yes, experience the ‘Red Light District’.

We will board EasyJet to Milan. We expect Milan to be expensive. A one-night stay is enough for window-shopping. We will continue our journey by bus to Venice. We will have the excitement of riding on a gondola, touring the Venetian masters of art and several more.

It will be an unforgettable journey to get to Zurich using the Swiss Railway System (SBB). Zurich Hauptbahnhof is one of the most sophisticated railway stations in Europe. We will stay at Jungfrau Lodge, Swiss Mountain Hotel. We will climb the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe. The panoramic view and skiing between the never-end snows seems to be exciting. This will be my third times visiting Switzerland. Yet, I will go again because I love Switzerland. Switzerland is well known for its cleanliness, banking system but high-tax. Hmm, I wonder why?

Our journey will end on the 19th April. That’s enough for a week holiday budget that will drain my three months subsistence allowances. Assignments and dissertation will keep coming in but well said, “Cheerio!”
